It’s hard to believe that this vision in my head became a reality. I toyed with the idea of hosting a workshop for months before I actually set the plan to motion. I was so nervous that no one would come! Boy, was I wrong. 19 attendees took time out of their schedule to travel from all over the crossroads area & attend the Back to Basics workshop. We had all different sorts come. Some are moms who wanted better photos of their children; others wanted to learn to take better photos to market themselves more accurately in their businesses; a few were professional photographers who were looking for some fresh images in their portfolio & we even had a real estate agent who wanted to get an understanding on her camera in order to take better images of the properties she is selling. THIS. This is the reason why I wanted to host a workshop. To help others succeed in their businesses. You can have a THRIVING business, but without images to sell it, it makes it tough!
The truth is: I couldn’t of made any of this happen without the help of some amazing vendors. Amy, with the Venue on Church Street, offered such a beautiful venue for me to host & honestly, I couldn’t of picked a more perfect spot. While I do shoot weddings here all the time, I don’t think I can ever get sick of it! The light is glorious! Check out the rest of the vendors & their websites below who helped make this workshop vision of mine a real thing:
I had such a sweet group of attendees & everyone opened up about what they were struggling with. The first two hours of the workshop were dedicated to going over manual mode completely. It took me about a month to create all of the slides with the teaching material to go over. Most came in only knowing how to shoot in auto~mode, but left only using manual. How incredible is that! The last two hours of the workshop were focused on hands on shooting. We started with indoor light shooting details & the model. From there we headed out to the courtyard to catch some of the setting sun. Everyone was so pumped to be creating images they all knew they were capable of, but couldn’t quite figure out on camera. This was such a rewarding & fun experience to of had & I hope I can offer more workshops in the future on different topics. Take a peep at some behind the scenes shots & styled shoot images from the Back to Basics Workshop with Jenny King Photography!
Cottonwood Print hand wrote all of the attendees names on their own name tag. They also had adorable little journals with their names on it in the gift bag! I am kicking myself for not taking a photo!

Blanca Veils created this stunning veil with blusher & sparkle lace details around the bottom. It was a very windy day & the veil flowed beautifully! I reached out to her via Etsy & she created this & sent it down from north Texas in 3 days!

Time to catch that glow I wait around allll day for!
Would you look at these florals…I mean! For all my attendees, I shot this at a 1.6 aperture.
