Catherine & Charles — A Bumble Love Story Rooted in Central Park and Written in the Stars
Catherine, a sharp NYU grad and FEMA professional, met Charles, a Vermont-born farmer-turned-city transplant, after he moved to NYC for a job with his uncle. Their Bumble match led to an unforgettable first date — a 20-pound picnic basket in Central Park, beers by sundown, and a late-night stroll from 96th Street to Grand Central Station. From that moment, their love only deepened.
Three years in, they traveled to Texas together, bonding further with Catherine’s family — including her trauma surgeon father who welcomed Charles with breakfast tacos. When Charles proposed, he presented Catherine with her great-grandmother’s heirloom ring, carefully brought out from her mother’s safe in February 2022. Catherine, ever thoughtful, had long ago bartered for a too-large ring while studying abroad in West Africa; it turned out to be a perfect fit for Charles and will be cast in platinum.
Their shared love for food (Catherine’s cast iron skillet collection is serious business), sports (Charles is an avid football and basketball fan), and serendipity is clear. The pair will soon move to Washington, D.C., where Charles will begin work as an internal analyst.
Their wedding weekend, set in San Antonio, TX included a flash mob bingo night, a brunch-themed rehearsal, and a rooftop wedding day eclipse party at the historic St. Anthony Hotel. The date is especially meaningful — falling on both a solar eclipse and the birthday of Charles’s late grandfather. Their candlelit Roosevelt Library reception was magical in every way.
From a Bumble match to a Central Park first date, Catherine and Charles’s story is a modern fairytale with heirloom roots and cast-iron charm.
