Jessica & Nik have had their fair share of set backs since the COVID-19 pandemic. We rescheduled their engagement session twice because of it, then eventually just had to scrap the idea all together due to time constraints. Because they were keeping numbers small at their ceremony, they decided to have an intimate dinner with the group of people who attended the wedding & skip a large reception. Two days before their wedding, the restaurant decided to close it’s doors temporarily because of the world’s current situation. Talk about a bummer! BUT…despite the disappointment, that didn’t stop Jess & Nik from having an absolutely beautiful ceremony.
Sometimes, a part of me wishes more ceremonies were like this one. I know it’s not ideal, but I truly feel situations like this get everyone back to the roots of a wedding. Yes, it’s a celebration but more importantly, a lifelong union between two people pledging themselves to one another. With no where to rush off too after the ceremony, it gives all the time to soak up the feels of what is actually being said. Since there was no “after the ceremony”, toasts & first dances all took place during their ceremony. Jess’s best friend was unable to attend however, she made the time to record her speech & it was played for everyone to hear. She told the story of how she first met Nik & just KNEW he would be perfect for Jess. When she went to tell Jess about him, it turns out Jess was already talking to him. Small, small world.
Nik has a strong brotherhood of friends who CLEARLY love him. Seeing grown men get emotional just pulls at the heart strings. His two best men had heartfelt speeches that left everyone in tears. The best, joyful kind of tear.
Nik & Jess, I’ve only know you in person for about 3 hours but I can tell the two of you are two peas in a pod. Thank you for choosing JKP during such a strange time in all of our lives! I hope you enjoy a few of my fave images from your lovely wedding day. XOXO
