Finally! Spring has graced us with all the color! I started thinking about this shoot back in December. I decided that once my assistant, Derrick, made the jump & invested in a professional camera, that I would throw a styled shoot as a celebration gift! We started out looking for the perfect table setting. I already had the table; a small cart that was handed down to me from my grandmother. It was the perfect size for two table settings. We found two sets of mix matched plates, glasses, silverware & napkins from the Laurent Street Antique mall. It’s one of my favorite places to go in Victoria! Would you believe that Derrick had never been there? Me either!
I already had the two gorgeous rose chairs from my collection. I realized I had never used them in a shoot so I was excited to finally put them to use! Any other day they would just be chillin’ in front of my desk waiting for a new #jkcouple to come sit!
Once we had our place settings settled, it was time to pick a model, gown, hair & MUA artists. Hannah is a peach to offer her Saturday to us! Jade & Madalynn are always so accommodating & let her try on several gowns to see which fit the theme best. Eclectic with a touch of glam it is! Celina Lane always KILLS it with the makeup & Stephen Bess can literally serve you any hair style you want. Everyone is so talented! From there we were able to play with our florals, which is what Derrick & I both love to do. This was our first attempt at an artsy center piece & I’m obsessed with how it turned out. We found the stand at a random garage sale! When we went to HEB Plus to pick out florals, I stopped in my track to see that they now carry anemones. They are one of my FAVORITE flowers! It added an extra flare to our bouquet & centerpiece arrangement!
For the finishing touch, Kirsten with Cottonwood Print created a beautiful, hand painted invitation suite for us. I LOVE how vibrant it is! She is also collab-ing with me on the Back to Basics Workshop & I am excited to photograph that suite too! I almost forgot alllll about the cake! A fantastic lady named Cathi Hopping, who also happens to be my kiddos Nana, took the time to come over & show me how to roll fondant. I’ve always been curious about the process & without her help, it would be the cake that never was. I’ve always wanted a cake with berries on it & I though it turned out so so adorable!
Because of really bad rain, we were force to shoot under a covered porch. It literally rained throughout this entire shoot! It stopped every so often & we were able to step out but for the most part, it was nasty. Thanks to the nice lady who owns the Mitchell house, we were able to continue with our shoot! Enjoy some favorites from a very eclectic vision brought to you by yours truly & my wonderful assistant, Derrick! XOXO
