This shoot was the most spur of the moment shoot that I have ever done. Around 10pm Monday night whilst having a glass of wine, I made a Facebook post asking if anyone wanted to have a session in the hypothetical snow that never came. I was so pumped to see how many people wanted to get together & collaborate on any & everything! Within an hour, I had a makeup artist, hair stylist & model ready to go with a concept in my head. Of course, snow did not grace us with it’s presence so we waited one more day to shoot when it wasn’t raining. Wednesday we were all able to make it come together!
While I love love love the glowing brides & live for wedding days, I sometimes gravitate for dark & moody…it can be light & beautiful just as any other! My girl, Celina Lane with Celina Lane Beauty always KILLS it with the makeup drama so I knew I had to have her for this look! Stephen Bess is the master of the tease (in more ways than one) & he NAILED the look I was wanting. I just love me some big hair & a good tease!
I’ve had this skirt laying around for quite some time. I bought it off of one of my favorite Etsy stores called V Marie & had it custom made for me. I just adore her stuff! I originally got it for myself to play around in & have a shoot with but we all know I’m too damn old to run around in a tulle skirt in a over grown field. Or am I??? Maybe when I lose 10lbs or so… I was happy to bust out this baby & fluff it to it’s full glory! The crop is from Victoria’s Secret & was the exact vibe I was hoping for. I wanted to add a little pop of color with the yellow roses with red tips. I love how Celina matched Kaely’s lips with a hint of red to compliment the rose petals. I had the best time creating this loosely tied bouquet & I must admit, I’m a bit proud of this one. I just love hanging with the flowers…they’re so pretty. I had some ribbon laying around the office that matched the skirt perfectly. My husband had gone to our storage building last week & brought home a velvet chair I had in there. He asked ‘Did you forget about this little guy?’ I did! HAHA! I won’t forget about him (the chair) anymore though!
As I was walking out the door to shoot it hit me, my black veil would be the PERFECT finishing touch to this look. I hadn’t taken it out of the closet in years & when I took it out of the bag & put it on, I cried a little. It’s just so pretty & brought back so many great memories of my trips to New York & my wedding day. I love getting to bring it out every so often & enjoy it as many ways as I can. I’ve never been in more love with a veil that I am with mine.
Kaely KILLED our time together. I literally met her 10 minutes before we shot & she looked SO FREAKIN’ FIERCE! Can I also mention it was 32 degrees during this shoot at 3’clock in the afternoon? Where did she come from?! Ugh. I am so grateful for all of the talented people that keep surfacing in my life. It’s not very often that I have the free time to bring a vision to reality & when I have friends to help make it happen so willingly, I just overflow with happiness.
Take a peek at some of the fun I had with some very talented peeps! XOXO
